Political Bodies – Dialogues between Germany and Brazil in the Performing Arts

MITsp and the Goethe-Institut São Paulo invite you to the event “Political Bodies – Dialogues between Germany and Brazil in the Performing Arts.”

Bringing together artists and thinkers from Brazil and Germany, the event explores the body as a site of creation, memory and resistance through performance, choreography and critical discourse. Get to know the participants:

Olympia Bukkakis, Queen of Heaven and Earth, Empress of Despair and Architect of Her Eternal Suffering, is a drag queen, choreographer, moderator and writer. Originally from Australia, she has lived and worked in Berlin since 2012, where she hosts queer performance events such as Get Fucked, Queens Against Borders and Apocalypse Tonight.

Kysy Fischer (BR) uses humor to blur and confuse disciplines such as dance, performance and theater. As a choreographer, she is interested in minimalist exaggeration and playful contradictions. Her work engages with themes of psychoanalysis and class issues.

Moderation by Helena Vieira, a writer, playwright, and researcher whose career is marked by the intersection of art, philosophy and memory.

Starting from the idea of the body as a territory of creation, memory, and resistance, the meeting proposes a reflection on how artistic practices can challenge aesthetic norms and power structures, exploring the crossroads between Brazil and Germany.
