KYSY FISCHER & ABA NAIA "naked and exhausted"

We are glad to share the news that “naked” by Kysy Fischer is one of the selected projects to be at Schloss Bröllin Residence Program in July 2025.

In July 2025, Kysy Fischer and her collective ABA NAIA will move into Schloss Bröllin to work on two new solos.

“naked” by Kysy Fischer is an exploration of the naked body on stage. This discourse is told through the story of the performer, who wanted to become a dancer as a child in Latin America in the 1990s. Fischer’s first dance solo is about the friction between the material reality of a child whose family could not afford to buy a costume for dancing and the concreteness of an adult body on a stage – both as possibilities to shape the fantasy of dancing.

The piece combines autobiographical narratives with choreographic approaches and occupies the entire space. By occupying a space from which she was previously excluded, Fischer traces her aesthetic choices and sheds light on the social context of Brazil in the 1990s. “naked” is an analysis of the effects of financial scarcity on the development of a dancing body. It examines the politics and affects of exclusion through class experiences and their influence on intimacy and identity. In contrast to the discipline of dance, from which she was excluded, Fischer also explores her neurodivergence as a choreographic tool.

“exhausted” by Rafaella Marques. A voice on a zig-zag course. Rafaella Marques experiments with the sonority of a text written in a stream of thought. The word moves. Imagine that. The experience of a “choreography of words”. Pause. There must be a pause. The truth is… The ridiculous. Fragmented, poetic, vulnerable narratives. Open wounds, open breasts, everything is interrupted, a conflict with life, with career. exhausted body, happy body, endless contradictions. It contains irony, anger at everyday life, discouragement and affection. It contains precariousness. It contains domestic life, guilt and desire. Rafaella Marques’ text experiment is a further development of her research into the artistic treatment of thought flow, which she began in 2021.
